(The Lotus Flower)
Written by Marissa Quiñonez
How can you embody the thousandfold lotus flower?
How can you fully embrace your infinite potential?
When we think about this plant, what comes to mind? I think of Spirituality, Hinduism, Buddhism, and symbols of ancient Egypt; it’s a flower; from what I recall, it grows through the muck and blossoms.
While reviewing many, many pieces on this subject, there are a lot of interpretations:
The Lotus Flower symbolizes hope, growth, transformation, purity, and strength. Another article portrays rebirth, divinity, and resilience, and this flower represents the highest levels of consciousness, leaving us with depictions of the divine.
These ideas of what the lotus flower represents vary from each article I reviewed, though they all try their best to convey the gifted presence of this bud.
From their perspective, we are encouraged to believe these characteristics, though, from my own, it is upon witnessing and being within its presence; what are you personally experiencing? What do you perceive?
Please take a moment to sit with it and watch this video above a few times; be present with what you witness and your interpretation.
There is an opening, a sense of calm and security. To feel the sun’s warmth and relief, finally.
It is mentioned that the flower closes in the evening to reemerge and bloom again the next day through its cycle and can produce a variety of colors.
We’re here to ask ourselves today:
How can you embody the thousandfold lotus flower? How does a piece or part of you resonate with what you witnessed? Is it hope and transformation or purity and rebirth?
Some pieces of our lives may seem as if they’re not syncing or crossing the ways we’ve hoped, though we must continue making efforts when we can because when we’re not focused on it all finally being perfect, our efforts meet us where we are. Arriving to the day with 40% effort is giving the day 100% because you showed up and chose to, which is better than not at all.
Are you doing the best you know how?
Know this is enough.
Do you desire rest?
Know it’s okay to rest.
Remember to breathe deeply.
Ask yourself when it was that we were taught to unlove ourselves. Think of the one soul you care for the most, them as a child, being overwhelmed and feeling insecure and unsure because hello, f*cking life; we want to be there for them, of course, we would be!
Instead, we’re told to “deal with it” and “toughen up.”
Everyone desires to be cared for and loved, embraced, thought about, and acknowledged, their feelings brought to light and made aware of. Know that you also wish this from yourself. How foreign this concept is and how healing and enriching life blossoms once we finally hear and see ourselves in this light.
Be the embodiment of love and compassion for yourself; within the small things, for some, it’s getting up and brushing their teeth, drawing a bath for themselves if they never had before, or taking a break in their day to sit and do whatever they want for 15 minutes. Have a meal even. Whatever you choose, choose it lovingly and playfully.
When you take care of yourself, even in the smallest ways/ moments, you feel cared for and are prepared to show up to help all the beings close to your heart.
How can you fully embrace your infinite potential?
Currently utilizing the cold months to innovate and create, this withdrawal mode contributes to growth. Maintaining this internal awareness/ energy (“sunlight”), knowing I’m walking the path solely meant for me, will allow me to be prepared to embrace the sunlight once the petals release.
If we’re putting in the work to obsess over our success, know that it’s arriving right on time and that rest and digestion are essential components to sustaining an abundant life. Be dedicated to who and how you are. Is there room for compassion, love, and empathy within you? Can you release what no longer serves you to create space for new downloads?
Take 10 min (set a timer) and practice by writing these two questions to yourself and answering them: How can you embody the thousandfold lotus flower? How can you fully embrace your infinite potential (now)?
Once that timer dings, pencil down and close that sh!t, and remember you practiced introspection, self-reflection, presence, and self-awareness.
